Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin joined Fox News on Thursday to discuss President Trump’s executive order on women’s sports. “This is a big moment for America because women’s sports are protected by Title IX,” Youngkin told Fox News host Will Cain.
Trump’s executive order, titled Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports, was signed on Wednesday. Youngkin, a former athlete himself, attended the signing ceremony.
The order makes clear that federal policy now opposes the inclusion of males in women’s sports, “as a matter of safety, fairness, dignity, and truth.”
During Thursday’s interview, Cain additionally sought the governor’s views on other education-related issues, including the possible shuttering of the U.S. Department of Education.
“We have always thought that the states are far better prepared to teach the kids, to administer the schools, and to have high expectations,” Youngkin said.
