Dr. Reid and Ms. Anderson,

In light of the recent decision in Mirabelli v. Bonta, which held that public school districts may not keep information from parents regarding their children’s gender identity, do you plan to modify Fairfax County Public Schools’ mandatory annual teacher training titled “Gender Expansive and Transgender Students”?

The training currently states:

“Prior to notification of any parent or guardian regarding the transition process, school staff should work closely with the student to assess the degree to which, if any, the parent or guardian will be involved in the process and must consider the health, well-being, and safety of the transitioning student.”

Could you please clarify whether this guidance will be revised to align with the court’s ruling?

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Lundquist-Arora
