Rescheduled School Choice Event Set for March 7 in Arlington

EdNews Virginia | March 2, 2026

After cold weather forced a postponement of the Commonwealth’s premier K-12 education event in January, EdReform Virginia is ready to bring the heat this weekend. The 4th Annual School Choice Celebration has been officially rescheduled for Saturday, March 7, and organizers are looking forward to a record turnout of families, educators, and advocates.

Originally slated to occur during National School Choice Week (January 25–31), the event was moved to ensure the safety of attendees traveling from across the state. Notwithstanding the delay, organizers say enthusiasm for educational freedom in Virginia has never been stronger.

National Recognition for EdReform Virginia

Saturday’s celebration follows major news for the hosting organization. In January, EdReform Virginia earned national recognition for its engagement with students and families. The award highlights the organization’s commitment to empowering Virginians with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the state’s evolving K-12 landscape — from traditional school districts and charters to homeschooling and microschools.

Star-Studded Lineup

This year’s event will feature high-profile speakers who have been at the forefront of the Commonwealth’s “Parent Revolution.” Former Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears will serve as the guest of honor, sharing her vision for a Virginia where all students can attend the best schools for them. Joining her is WMAL talk radio host Larry O’Connor, a staunch advocate for parental rights and educational freedom.

Event Details: BBQ, Fun, and Information

Designed as a family-friendly gathering, the celebration offers more than just speeches. Attendees will enjoy a full BBQ lunch and light refreshments at no cost.

Why It Matters

While National School Choice Week is officially observed in late January, the movement in Virginia is a year-round effort. With recent legislative changes and a growing demand for customized learning environments, Saturday’s event will serve as a venue for families to connect, share information, and take action.

Registration Information

Admission to the event is free, but registration is needed to ensure there is enough seating and food. To register or just learn more, visit SchoolChoiceVA.com or EdReformVA.org. Those who registered in January are on the list already — they don’t have to register again.
