As families prepare for the start of the 2026–2027 school year, President Donald Trump has issued a formal “Welcome Back to School” letter addressed to students nationwide.
In the letter, dated August 2026, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump extend their best wishes to students, families, and educators as they embark on a new academic journey.
“The Golden Age of America relies upon your tremendous leadership, commitment, and character,” President Trump wrote. “I encourage you to do your best in school each day, ask questions, and never stop learning. Keep dreaming big and working hard, and always remember there is no limit to what you can achieve for yourself and for the United States of America.”
Safety and Opportunity
The President highlighted federal efforts to improve classroom environments and keep communities safe to support the next generation.
“Please know, as President, I am fighting every day to strengthen your school, make your community safer, and create new opportunities for your future so you can build your own unique American Dream,” the letter states.
White House Invitation
In addition to encouraging achievement, the White House issued a direct invitation to students to provide written updates on their successes.
President Trump encouraged students to share:
- Academic Successes: Classroom work and milestones they are proud of.
- Athletic and Personal Wins: Achievements in sports and individual pursuits.
- Community Impact: Ways students made a positive difference in their local schools or towns.
“We look forward to hearing from classrooms all across America,” the President noted, closing the letter with a wish for a wonderful school year: “Work hard, and have fun!”
